Coordinator, Centre for Societal Resilience

In the role as Coordinator you are responsible for a wide range of tasks at the centre. Most of these tasks are related to project management where particular emphasis is placed on capacity to solve tasks independently and efficiently. Below follows a brief description of each area of responsibility.

Research and innovation:
Research and innovation are the core tasks of the centre. You will contribute to all phases of the project management cycle, from identifying opportunities and formulating project proposals to evaluation and reporting.

Communication and events:
You support researchers in identifying and turning scientific results into news flashes, press releases etc. You are responsible for managing and developing the centre’s homepage and you work proactively to identify needs and opportunities for workshops and seminars in order to facilitate transdisciplinary collaboration. You are responsible for managing seminars and symposiums to stimulate dialogue concerning central issues between universities, international organisations, national and local authorities, private companies and civil society organisations. You contribute to develop relations with various external partners, including planning and representing the centre in meetings, drafting Letters-of-Intent, etc.

Commissioned education:
You are responsible for communicating with stakeholders involved in promoting societal resilience in practice concerning their needs of commissioned education. You coordinate the design, implementation and evaluation of the centre's commissioned courses in close collaboration with Lund University Commissioned Education (LUCE).

General administration:
The centre is a streamlined organisation where everybody must contribute to its smooth running. You will contribute to the everyday administration of the centre which may include tasks like verifying invoices, proofreading publications, writing meeting minutes, photocopying course material, etc.

Qualifications
We are looking for a colleague with a Master's degree that is relevant for societal safety and/or sustainability, and with professional experience of working with communication and project management in relevant contexts. For instance, in relation to risk management, climate change adaptation, disaster or crisis management, business continuity, international development cooperation, societal planning, etc. We also value if you have experience from working with commissioned courses in any of the above mentioned contexts.

Experience of working in several different spheres of society is a strong merit (i.e. state, market and civil society), as well as experience of working in both developed and developing countries. Particular merit is placed on documented experience of working in multicultural contexts and teams. It is also a merit to have experience of working in the administrative systems of Lund University, or of other Swedish governmental agencies.

The working language of the centre is English. You must thus be fluent in English, both orally and in writing. Proficiency in Swedish is a merit and if you do not speak Swedish initially it is advised to be ready to learn, since Swedish is the administrative language of Lund University. Working knowledge of other world languages is a merit, i.e. Mandarin, Hindi, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Russian, Cantonese, Arabic, etc.

You must be motivated and flexible, both in the sense of having many tasks ongoing simultaneously and of having occasional peaks in workload. You must be able to drive your own tasks independently within given frames, at the same time as you must be perceptive of the changing needs of the centre and its partners. You must be communicative and socially adept, as well as able to collaborate with a wide range of different professionals, personalities, etc.

Centre for Societal Resilience is a university-wide independent transdisciplinary centre for research and innovation at Lund University. Its mission is to promote a resilient society by providing new knowledge, processes, methods and tools, and by supporting initiatives that apply them in practice. The centre aspires to become a world-renowned hub of knowledge and action, with the vision of understanding, explaining and improving our world and the human condition through research and innovation for safety, security and sustainability.
