Program manager - disaster risk management

Responsibilities:





  • Lead backstopping of Plan’s institutional DRM project portfolio;

  • As part of DRM team, lead pursuit of institutional funding, with a focus on U.S. Government donors;

  • Support engagement with IH, ROs, and COs on DRM programming, practice, policy development, and initiatives;

  • Support the development of DRM strategy;

  • Support staff participation in DRM-related activities (including secondments and roster membership);

  • Collaborate with IMC teams in the development of DRM-related individual funding efforts and communications pieces;

  • Participate in development of operational areas relevant to DRM, including Logistics and Security planning;

  • Represent Plan in USG-focused DRM events and fora.




Qualifications:

Knowledge, Skills, Ability



  • Significant fundraising experience, including preparation of technical and cost applications for USAID and other USG donors

  • Demonstrated experience leading the backstopping of USG-funded projects, including knowledge of USG rules and regulations for grant-funded awards

  • Knowledge of DRM and international standards for emergency programming

  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

  • Ability to engage collaboratively within diverse groups

  • Superior problem solving skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, tight deadlines, and priorities.

  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, make and communicate good decisions

  • Willingness and ability to liaise with other teams and team members

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access.



Education and Experience




  • Master’s Degree in relevant field required (International Development, Public Health, WASH, Agriculture) or Bachelor’s and 3-5 years of experience in a relevant field, such as Relief operations or Logistics

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience managing/backstopping USAID projects

  • Significant overseas work experience in relief or development is highly desirable

  • Experience with USG-funded emergency response programming highly desirable

  • French and/or Spanish proficiency preferred
