Emerald Group Publishing is looking to recruit a new Book Series Editor(s) to take over the editorship of Community Environment and Disaster Risk Management The series is a collection of thematic book volumes, presenting contemporary scholarship relating to global environment and approaches to disaster risk reduction. As people and communities are the first and the most important responders to disasters and environment-related problems, the series aims to analyse critical field-based mechanisms which link community, policy and governance systems. The series encourages articles with a focus on interdisciplinary, international and comparative standpoints on environment and disaster risk reduction. Coverage includes, but is not restricted to: Community-based natural resource management; Community-based environmental management; Community-based disaster risk management; Climate change adaptation; Urban risk reduction; Human security; Forest management; Coastal zone management; Post-disaster recovery experiences; and Corporate community interface on environment and disaster management.

Created in December 1999, the United Nations Office for Disaster Risk Reduction (UNISDR) is the designated focal point in the United Nations system for the coordination of disaster reduction and to ensure synergies among the disaster reduction activities of the United Nations and regional organizations and activities in socio-economic and humanitarian fields. Led by the United Nations Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Disaster Risk Reduction, UNISDR has over 100 staff located in its headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, and 5 regional offices and other field presences. Specifically, UNISDR coordinates international efforts in disaster risk reduction, and guides, monitors and reports on the progress of the implementation of the Hyogo Framework for Action; campaigns to create global awareness of disaster risk reduction benefits and empower people to reduce their vulnerability to hazards; advocates for greater investments in disaster risk reduction to protect people's lives and assets, and for increased and informed participation of men and women in reducing disaster risk; and informs and connects people by providing practical services and tools such as PreventionWeb, publications on good practices, and by leading the preparation of the Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction and the Organisation of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction. This position is located in the UNISDR Regional Office in Brussels and the incumbent reports to the Head of Regional Office.

International relief and resilience specialist

EnCompass LLC is seeking an International Relief and Resiliency (R&R) Specialist to provide subject matter expertise for an assessment of a portfolio of grants which support community-based disaster risk reduction projects in disaster prone regions worldwide. The R&R Specialist will be an integrated member of a small assessment team and contribute his/her expertise in and experiences designing, implementing and/or evaluating programs addressing community-based disaster risk reduction, community resilience and emergency relief, and climate change adaptation. The R&R Specialist will inform team members on the most current research, evaluation approaches, and learning activities of the international relief and resilience community. The R&R Specialist may also facilitate learning sessions engaging grantees and donors working in international community-based disaster risk reduction. This is a short-term, consultancy position. Work is anticipated to take place between January and June 2015. No international travel is anticipated.

Elle porte aussi un appui opérationnel et une assistance technique aux délégations départementales et territoriales de la Croix-Rouge Française dans la Caraïbe (Guadeloupe, Martinique, Guyane, St Martin) en termes de réduction des risques et de préparation aux catastrophes.
