A new vision for community resilience

This brochure presents a vision on community resilience and effective disaster risk reduction, based on experiences and combined knowledge of 5 organizations in 9 countries that are part of Partners for Resilience Alliance (PfR.) It describes PfR’s vision tree which is based on eight principles for resilience (the roots): work on different timescales, recognize broader geographical scales, strengthen institutional resilience, integrate disciplines and approaches, stimulate learning, promote community self-management, focus on livelihoods, form partnerships; four building blocks (the trunk): anticipate, respond, adapt, transform; that apply on several levels (the leafs): household, community, landscape.

The document highlights specific cases from Philippines, Mali and Kenya.
