NATO advanced research workshop: 'Building inter-agency information sharing plans for homeland security'

Effective information sharing is essential for operational coordination and collaboration between partners in security efforts. This workshop will present an Information Sharing Planning (ISP) framework for strengthening national and international information sharing, planning, and operational coordination mechanisms.ISP supports homeland security (e.g. security for transportation, maritime, aviation, and borders, as well as critical infrastructure protection), disaster prevention, risk reduction, counter-terrorism, law enforcement, and combined operations.

Additional presentations will analyse the strengths and weaknesses of existing national and international policy and planning frameworks and brainstorm changes needed for more effective operational coordination and mission integration, nationally across levels of government (vertical integration) and among local, national, regional, and international partners (horizontal integration).
